Important engagement
As the royal engagement draws to a close and the wedding looms, I thought it would be opportune to do a brief blog on engagement. As David mentions, we’ve developed a unique package designed to help universities to engage with hard-to-reach communities to widen participation as tuition fees are hiked. One of the engagement tools that the package includes is managed by the talented people at Partners in Creative Learning, an organisation which delivers the Creative Partnerships programme in schools. I am fortunate enough to work as a Board Trustee for the organisation, and they apply sound thinking and active learning principles to engage with young people at a deeper level. Widening participation has to go deeper in order to really challenge misconceptions and change behaviour, otherwise our universities will be missing out on some of its future stars…
