Inspiring young people to take up a career in construction

We organised a photo shoot recently using a group of 14 and 15 year old young people from Cannock Chase High School. The images are being used to encourage young people to consider a career in construction. You’ll see some of the shots on bconstructive.co.uk for example. Our ‘models’ worked hard using cement mixers, measuring equipment and a host of other tools and props under strict supervision from our minder at the National Construction College in Birmingham and the photographer Stephen Shepherd.

It was fascinating to see these young people, who had never previously been on a building site, getting more and more drawn in to the wide variety of tasks they were emulating. It was not just the images that are being used to inspire others to take a closer look at  construction, those young people were also inspired that day.
