We’ve lost the lard and we don’t want it back
Today I’m unleashing my campaign to save my local community gym which has been threatened with closure as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review. All of my fellow gym members are taking lard to our circuits class (on Monday 22nd Nov at 7pm) that weighs as much as the weight we’ve lost at Meir Fitness Centre. We’re hoping to canvas support from the local press to get the message across to local Councillors. It’s a fantastic facility and offers an opportunity to all sorts of people to get fit at a reasonable cost. Many people will be unlikely to be able to pay for private gym membership, so if the centre closes, they’ll lose out. Fitness facilities shouldn’t only be accessible to the affluent. Exercise should be a necessity not a privilege.
